Senior Data Analyst/Engineer – Pyspark, SQL, Banking sought by leading investment bank based in London.

**Inside IR35 – 3 days a week onsite**

Responsibilities:

  • Building PySpark and SQL queries to analyse, reconcile, and interrogate data
  • Provide recommendations to improve the reporting process. This could include working with IT teams to improve data quality, working with stakeholders to simplify processes or improving query performance.
  • Contribute to architecture and design discussions of a Hadoop environment
  • Translate architecture and low-level requirements to design and code
  • Provide direction and technical leadership on complex, high-impact projects and in all phases of the development and implementation process, ensuring essential procedures are followed
  • Promotes continuous process improvement especially in code quality, testability & reliability

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in SQL, Python, Spark.
  • 5+ years Technical Data Analysis experience
  • Hadoop / Big Data domain familiarity
  • Data Warehouse/ETL design and development methodologies knowledge and experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively produce reports, documentation, and communicate with senior management. Ability to seamlessly communicate complex technical issues to non-technical colleagues
  • Self starter with the ability to work independently

Beneficial:

  • 'Experience within an investment banking or financial services environment
    • Exposure to Hive, Impala, and Spark ecosystem technologies (HDFS, Apache Spark, Spark-SQL, UDF, Sqoop)
    • Experience building and optimizing Big Data pipelines, architectures and data sets
