Test Analyst DIT-Digital IT Up to 44K (dependant on experience) The Opportunity The Test Analyst role is within a small test team supporting project delivery within Digital IT. These projects vary in size and complexity and they support the delivery of new and improved services supporting students’, academics and support staff. The Test Analyst reports to the Head of Testing for the provision of testing services. They will create all necessary test documentation including Test Approaches, Test Scenarios and Test Scripts. They will be responsible for the execution of tests, increasingly in Agile project teams, and the recording of appropriate test evidence in a structured manner and when found, the logging and management of defects. Key Responsibilities * Refine and implement the test strategy (and associated standards and procedures) and determine the appropriate Test Approach for each assigned project. * Create and execute test plans, test scenarios and test scripts for functional and non-functional requirements, using recognised software tools where appropriate (eg Azure DevOps Test Plans, SpecFlow, Selenium, Cypress, JMeter, Postman, Toad etc). * Recording and documenting test evidence in clear and simple language in a standard format and using the appropriate test management tool (e.g. Azure DevOps) determined by the Test Approach. * Assist the Head of Testing in the development of testing services, and the provision and promotion of these across DIT and the wider University. * Assist the Head of Testing in the cascade and implementation of agreed test standards and procedures, further, to monitor their effectiveness and provide feedback. * Take ownership and manage test incidents to a successful outcome. * Communicate testing progress and provide accurate reports of test coverage and requirement traceability. Required experience, skills & abilities : 1 Substantial experience in performing IT testing activities in a similar role 2 Substantial experience of producing accurate and detailed test plans and test scripts 3 Substantial experience of executing test scripts and recording evidence in an appropriate software tool (e.g. MS Test Manager, Azure DevOps Test Plans, Jira, HP ALM ) 4 Proven experience in performing manual test processes for the correct expected behaviour prior to release to end users 5 Proven experience of managing test incidents to a successful resolution, ensuring effective communication on progress, providing accurate reports of test coverage 6 Proven experience of performing functional and user acceptance testing with users of the system being tested 7 Proven experience of working in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environment 8 Experience in using SQL for test validation
