The Opportunity
We have an exciting vacancy to help develop our new Secure Data Science Infrastructure supporting users needing compute and storage and leveraging state of the art GPU resources in a secure and scalable manner. We are looking for the right person to join our team to help us establish and run this state-of-the-art facility. Working closely with our existing team delivering environments for novel research projects with all areas of the university and beyond.
We are looking for a self-motivated and well-organised team player to join the Storage and Virtualisation team - part of the forward thinking and progressive Technical Infrastructure Group at the heart of a top UK University.
You will be using the latest hardware, virtualisation, and advanced security technologies. Our SDDC (Software Defined Data Centre) technology runs on top of latest CPU, GPU and Optane based storage solutions and new high-speed networks and interconnects over dedicated fibre. We leverage VMware NSX, AVI, VSAN and VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) solutions accessing PB scale storage and shaping the solutions offered to meet the research needs in a secure environment for our world class research. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with innovative technology, learn, grow, and advance in the fields of virtualisation and Cyber security.
What you will need
Candidates will have a keen and active interest in IT Security, gained working with technologies such as VMWare, SAN (Storage Area Network), scripting, systems administration, and software virtualisation, along with an ability to manage and respond to complex systems and security requirements. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate a commitment to IT security practices at the highest levels in previous roles. It is essential you can attain and maintain UK government security clearance.
