Commercial Business Analyst (Shipping Projects)
Location: London (Hybrid - 4 Days a Week)
Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)
Duration: 6 months with possibility to extend
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Business Analyst to join a leading shipping company based in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work on commercial shipping projects focusing on contracts, Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes. This is a hybrid working role, where you will be required to be on-site 4 days a week. The role falls outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and manage commercial aspects of shipping projects, focusing on contracts, pricing, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
- Oversee and optimize the Quote-to-Cash and/or Order-to-Cash processes, ensuring seamless integration from contract negotiation through to billing and payments.
- Handle contract negotiations, amendments, and renewals, ensuring all commercial agreements are aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business (Legal, Finance, Sales, and Operations) to align commercial strategies with operational delivery.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Provide detailed financial and operational analysis related to contracts and shipping activities, identifying trends and opportunities for optimisation.
- Identify inefficiencies in the Q2C and O2C processes and work closely with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve workflows.
- Assess potential risks in contracts and commercial processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Commercial Business Analyst, ideally within the shipping industry or a related sector.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in managing Quote-to-Cash and/or Order-to-Cash processes.
- Strong experience in handling, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Excellent financial and data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex commercial information and provide actionable insights.
- Ability to manage relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in process optimization and driving efficiencies in commercial processes.
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems used in commercial and shipping industries (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Salesforce) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working within a commercial shipping environment would be highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks related to shipping contracts and operations.
