SCCM Engineer - SCCM Specialist

A Leading Financial Services business are looking to hire an experienced SCCM Specialist to work in their Technology Infrastructure and Security Team.

  • The role is an initial 6 to 9 month contract; with significant scope to roll
  • It is paying between £600 - £700 a day Inside IR35 only (via Umbrella) - potential flex to £750 a day
  • The role is based in London, central London city
  • Hybrid - 1 maybe 2 days a week in the office, 3 from home - (role could be remote)

Purpose of your role

  • Work in the Secure Zone team - package distribution for Citrix and patching (needs upgrading - 2012 or 2106) - Latest version upgrade
  • Citrix desktops - SCCM needs expanding in that Production domain
  • WSUS currently used for patching but want to alter that to use SCCM to patch
  • Also the Physical PC's also need to be installed using SCCM
  • Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager - the incumbent will be a member of the larger global client computing team with a primary focus on the SCCM Multi-Tier Hierarchy.
  • Day to day role will be to provide technical level support for the global Client Computing infrastructure (and related products) consisting of over 30,000+ endpoints (VDIs, Desktops, Laptops) across the globe, AppV and SCCM infrastructure.
  • Candidates will work closely with other service areas within TIS such as Service Desk, Security Teams, Desktop Services, Project Office and Engineering Delivery to ensure that appropriate tools and processes are in place to aid in their operation and improve time to market where possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert (SME) for the end user device environment, and, as such, regularly interacts with end users, vendors and other IT staff - mostly by phone, videoconference, email or instant messaging. They recommend standards for all end user OS environments, application deployment, profile management, help develop technical procedures, research, and advise on technical solutions for business needs.
  • Work with the Team Lead, and other services team to provide technical and operational support for SCCM on premise.
  • Help deliver service improvements without unnecessary investment in new products by working smarter, provision of better tools and better use of product set
  • Improve alignment of Technology solutions with Operational areas to focus on practical delivery of solutions architecture to FIL using experience from across the Windows Server product set
  • Adherence to Security Policy surrounding platform standards and provides engineering solutions to that policy as directed by the Security Product roadmap
  • Ensures operational requirements are matched in the delivery of services around standards and engineering
  • Owns and manages the performance and capacity management of the infrastructure
  • Ensures effective communication across the department and across geographically dispersed teams
  • Day to day duties:
    • SCCM Infrastructure maintenance and updates
    • Security patch deployments and troubleshooting
    • Windows Client health remediation / automation
    • Software deployments
    • Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Required:

  • 8+ Yrs of experience with SCCM - with excellent SCCM administration & management experience on directly installing, configuring, operating, administering and maintaining Microsoft SCCM 2012/2016 or higher
  • Advanced technical expertise on directly installing, configuring, operating, administering and maintaining a desktop OS and software management environment, including components such as:
  • Desktop OS Image management (Windows 10)
  • OSD
  • Patch Management
  • Software Inventory
  • Software Reporting
  • Usage Reporting
  • Distribution Points
  • Security management (MS Endpoint Protection)
  • Disk encryption (e.g. BitLocker)
  • Application packaging and distribution
  • Working experience of Windows Server build and configuration
  • Good experience of PowerShell scripting for Windows, SCCM, and AD administration
  • A strong understanding of networking concepts and technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP and other web protocols, proxies and load balancers
  • Knowledge of VMWare Virtualisation platform (Highly Desirable)
  • ITL certified (Desirable) with a knowledge of structured change management.
  • MS certification an advantage
  • Structured and methodical in problem solving
  • Strong communication skills and flexible team player, open to travel
  • Banking or Finance related business experience desirable

Experience with the following is an advantage;

  • Citrix XenApp & Xen-Desktop
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • VBScript or batch
  • Basic Network knowledge

Bachelor's /Master degree in Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent experience/certification
