Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Azure

A Leading Financial Services business are looking to hire an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, ideally with both On-Prem and Azure infrastructure services knowledge.

  • £600 - £725 per day (Inside IR35/Umbrella or PAYE only)
  • The role is an initial 6-12 month contract with scope to roll into a couple of years
  • The role is a Hybrid working (2 days a week in the office, 3 from home)
  • Based in London or can be based in Newcastle, Edinburgh or Manchester

The role is a Technical Specialist within the Platform Operations team, providing technical expertise and operational support across a wide range of infrastructure platforms and services, supporting the aims and objectives of the overall Technology function.

Responsibilities Include

  • The role will contribute to the security, availability, integrity and day-to-day support of core infrastructure services, including an on-premise and Cloud
  • Be part of the Infrastructure Operation team providing operational support and maintenance for on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure services.
  • Take proactive ownership of IT infrastructure operations, support, and projects related activities.
  • Monitor and manage infrastructure related tickets/request, and technical escalations.
  • Be part of the on-call rota (5 team members) average one week a month - Weekdays (07:30 to 18:00)
  • Assist with regular operational activities (e.g. disaster recovery tests, out of hours work as required)
  • Contribute to the optimisation, monitoring, maintenance and improvement of all infrastructure services, providing an efficient, reliable, and secure infrastructure that follows industry best practice.
  • Coordinate the wide range of activities required to deliver a strong infrastructure operations service (e.g. BAU infrastructure upgrades/maintenance)


Skills/Experience:

  • Hands-on experience as an infrastructure operations support engineer
  • Experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows platform management
  • Maintaining and creating comprehensive documentation including process, procedures, how to guides, wikis
  • Support and development of core infrastructure services, including
  • Windows Server Administration 2012/2016/2019/2022
  • Cloud Platform (Azure preferred)
  • Hyperconverged hosting platforms (e.g., Nutanix)
  • VMware System Administration
  • Backup and Recovery tools (e.g., CommVault, Azure Backup, Recovery Manager for AD)
  • Configuration Management tools (e.g., SCCM, Group Policy)
  • Powershell 
  • A Financial/Wealth Management Services background is advantageous but not essential
